Happy belated new year!

A lot has happened since the last time we spoke; my in-laws and two of my best friends came to visit me, I got promoted at work, sent some letters out to pen pals, adopted a dog, quit my job, the Eagles won the Super Bowl, got my job back and F I N A L L Y got that film developed!!!! Where do I even begin

I guess with the film that I've mentioned in every single post with nothing to show for it and today…. I don’t have much to add. My film got jammed in my cheap camera and half of the roll was lost and the remaining shots weren’t great. Love that for me. This isn’t the first roll I've ruined and I doubt it will be my last, but this one was a tough loss for me. The part of the roll that was unsalvageable was, of course, every shot of my best friend visiting. Oh well.

Luckily I got my hands on a little lomo action sampler (ty Romy) and have a more reliable point and shoot (ty Reuben) on the way. Looking forward to playing again when I’m done licking my wounds.

On another exciting note, I did overcome the hurdle of opening up my sewing machine.

Manual: Read.

Machine: Assembled.

Bobbins: Wound.

I don’t think I’ve touched a sewing machine in over a decade so I was pleasantly surprised by how easy the machine was to use. I got a little ambitious and decided to jump straight into quilting (a placemat) with little to no research. For a test project done in maybe two afternoons, I’m really pleased with how it came together. I can only imagine what I can accomplish if I actually measured things. I have a laundry list of sewing projects lined up but I am most excited by the idea of making or at least altering my own clothes. Just my luck that the nearest Joann is in Jersey (and mid-liquidation)

I don't have much else to report in the art department. Journaling has actually been bringing me joy lately, I'm determined to finish this one cover to cover chronicling my year in Philadelphia. It's conveniently missing most of its pages and has just enough left for two spreads a month through August. Which, as always, has me thinking large-scale about ✧˖°.trash✧˖°.

Maybe next time I post I'll have a study in the works at least. Would love to look at more found object sculpture in the meantime, my inbox is always open! I do want to say that I really appreciate the encouraging messages and comments I've received. I dislike sharing my work almost as much as I hate writing about it which is stupid. I love using the internet to view other people's work and read other people's blogs and it makes me happy to know there's a few of you who get the same feeling from mine. (but if you actually support me you'll read this on a desktop bc it looks so so so much better I promise xoxoxoxoxo!!!!!!!)

thanks for looking(:
