Hello! Approximately 5 minutes before finishing and posting this entry, the document I've been typing for weeks was wiped off the face of the earth in an unrecoverable way! So apologies if this is yet another short post, I’m crying in a cafe rn cursing g docs!!!!! whatEVERRRR !!!!!!!!!

gouache/portrait practice

Last week I finally got around to picking up film. I've felt naked the last few months without a camera in my pocket. And I've finally upgraded to a cheap, reloadable, point and shoot after a few years of shooting Fujifilm disposables. I haven't finished a roll yet so expect scans in my next post. In the meantime, would love recommendations for film to experiment w!

This month I was also led (via Algorithm) to Fat Habitat, an art journal illustrating and documenting everything from daily gratitude to protein intake, to what movie they watched. I’ve really enjoyed viewing these daily entries and honestly made me realize the missed opportunity to share my near-monthly playlists I’ve been making forever on these blog posts, d’oh! Here's what I’ve been listening to in October.

Aside from that I've just been continuing to try to form the habit of DAILY creative time. Even if its not ~*SeRiOuS*~ (something Fat Habitat also posted about recently!) So I dusted off and cleared out an old moleskine to start a new volume of junk journal and fell into a meditative state cutting out teeny tiny leaves to illustrate my day at the Jim Thorpe Fall Foliage Festival.

Which reminds me; I had sent a letter to my high school art teacher right before I moved and got his letter back at the beginning of October. I definitely didn't realize how influential he was to me while I was his student but now, ten years later, I am still referencing his work and using up the assortment of “scrap” he gifted me before retiring in 2014.

So shoutout to Mr. Lucy for encouraging and influencing my work for over a decade. You rock.

first test pattern

Wrapping this up because frankly I’m over it (still wishing a hex on whoever created autosave) I started a gouache portrait I would like to revisit even if I never finish it, and began making test patterns for a secret ragdoll project I’ve been planning. My goals for November are to finish at least three junk journal spreads, assemble the body of the ragdoll, and finish any other pattern making and material shopping for that project. ((and finish this roll of film! Praying the film store is no longer backed up with 4 weeks processing time!!!))

thanks for reading, do not get comfortable with auto save !!
